Week 62 Delft Netherlands

Throwback!!!

Egg Aftermath

Hello family and friends! It was good to hear that Lindsey made it safely back to America!  I still can't believe she is done with her mission!!

This last week was great! Monday night we did a little exchange with elder lee so he could come with me for a Chinese joint teach!  We taught Br Montes girlfriend, and it went awesome! There are so many Chinese people here in Delft, so I have a feeling we will be doing these things quite often.

We taught Joshua again this week, and he just loves it! He said he is going to make us some African food next week, so I'm excited about that. We taught him about the plan of salvation, and he took it like a champ! Had a lot of questions but it was good!

We helped Micha make some piƱatas this week for some volunteer work thing he is doing, and it was a lot of fun but mine didn't work out very well.  We dropped by on Saturday to see them after the kids had decorated them, and mine were destroyed.  Elder Parrs looks really nice though! After that we headed to the ward picnic thing in den haag! We got to play tennis and soccer with broeder Monte, and that was fun but the best part was that they had baseball gloves! So me and elder Parr got to play catch for a minute. That would totally be the highlight of my week, except for the fact that we found throwback mountain dew at the store this week! Don't worry I will sent pictures! It was probably the best purchase of my mission.

Last night as we were walking home a car drove by and threw an egg at us!! haha It hit my leg and exploded all over our shoes. It was kind of funny though, and now I can say I am the victim of a drive by egging! Not too many missionaries can say that!

Week 61 Delft Netherlands

The princes in her golden buggy thing

Hittin some balls at the golf store

LINDSEY IS GOING HOME THIS WEEK!

This week was a lot of fun!  We had a member call us on like Thursday or something and needed some help breaking down boxes so we helped him for a few hours, and on the way back we ran into a golf store. Now there is this book they give to all of the missionaries called the Managing stress book, and in there it tells you that you should take ten minute breaks every few hours to help keep your stress levels low.  Sooo we decided to take one of those and we went into this golf store. IT WAS AWESOME!! It's the first one I have seen in this country!! They let me hit in the simulator so I will send some pictures.  It felt so nice to hit some golf balls again.

Besides that on Sunday we had an investigator in church!! His name is Joshua, and I think I talked about him in my letter last week.  He is from Africa, and he is here studying.  He loved church!! I had to translate for him for the first two hours, and it was probably a good thing that he doesn't speak Dutch.  In the investigator class some of the members were asking some super stupid questions about the second coming, so I was a little selective on my translating.

The work is going so awesome here in delft, and I am so excited for josh. He is just excited to learn more, and he said he has a lot of questions for our next appointment.

Week 60 Delft Netherlands

What it looks like outside of our apartment every night!

Ran into farley at the Elder Ballard conference!

Service with micha

Geliefde Familie en vrienden!    (Beloved Family and friends)

This last week was amazing!! First off, elder Ballard and 2 other general authorities came to visit the mission, so on Thursday we had a mission conference.  It was for sure the best conference I have had on my mission.  One thing that elder Ballard announced was that our mission will be getting ipads sometime hopefully in the near future.  He talked about us being responsible and all of that good stuff.  He was also just ripping on one of the other general authorities through his whole talk!! haha he was really funny, and it was just a powerful meeting.

After the conference, we had to stay in Zoetermeer to clean and set up for the stake conference that night.  We had two less active members show up! Broeder Monte and Tom! They both loved it!  So we pretty much just got to have an apostle blow our minds all day long.  It was Fantastic!

Saturday we had a whole day of service.  We helped a family paint in Den Haag, and then we came back and helped Michas friend Maaike in her garden.  It was so nice to be able to wear nikes and a Tshirt all day.  After we helped her, we headed to her house for dinner.  She is like a pro chef, and she lived in Italy for a while. So she made us real Italian pizza.  It was probably the best pizza I've ever eaten besides my dads of course!  But after we ate we agreed to have a pepper eating contest with Micha.  We all picked a huge razamataz pepper from maaikes garden and ate them at the same time.  It was the hottest thing I have ever eaten!! We got it on video so yall can see that when I get back.

Last night we were heading to an appointment with a referral, and we got to what we thought was the house.  Turns out he doesn't live there, and we just thought it was a fake address.  So we called him and he didn't answer.  So we decided to just look up a less active who lived on that street.  She let us right in, and we actually ended up teaching her roommate.  He took a book of Mormon, and invited us back!! So that was cool, but then when we left I noticed we had 2 missed calls from this referral kid, and he still wanted us to come over.  What happened was I just went to the wrong street! I looked at the map and was just like oh yeah I know where that is and I was one street off!! haha so my stupid mistake ended up turning into a surprise member present lesson.

We taught this referral as well last night.  His name is Joshua, and he is from Africa.  He is probably one of the most golden investigators I have ever taught on my mission, so I'm pretty excited right now.  He is just so ready for the gospel!!

This week was an amazing week! I love my mission sa dern much! and we just heard as well that me and elder parr will be staying here for another transfer together!! Also none of the Den Haag missionaries are getting transferred either.  So that was just the cherry on the top of the cake for this week!

Love you all!

Week 59 Delft Netherlands

Apostate Vans Pday

Mountain West Computers going International

This last week went by really fast! We stayed pretty busy with appointments, which is always awesome.  We found a new investigator named Miguel, and he is super cool.  He sat and listened while we taught him, but when we were done he just jumped in with all of these crazy questions about America! haha Like does everyone carry guns, and are all the cars pimped, and do you just have car street races all the time! haha he watches a lot of TV, but he LOVES America!!

We also had Micha come over to build us our vertical garden! It is sweet! We have so many plants now I can't believe it!!  Micha is also coming this week to the elder Ballard fireside with us.  I can't wait for that! So Thursday is the mission conference and it goes until 3 and then we have to be back at the church around 5 for the fireside, so it's just going to be all day with Elder Ballard teaching us! I seriously can't wait! All of the missionaries are hoping that he announces that we are getting ipads, because the first presidency announced last month that some of the Western Europe missions should be getting them by the end of the year.  That would be really cool, but we will have to see!

Yesterday was a girl’s farewell in the Den Haag ward, and she is originally from Almere, so half of the Almere ward was there yesterday, and also a few people from Groningen.  It was the greatest!!! I got to talk to so many people I haven't seen for a while! I hung out with Broeder Van Vliet for a while. He was one of the ward mission leaders assistants in Almere.  It was just a great day! Then after church we went and fixed a sisters computer. Ha that was a lot of fun! It brought me back to the good ol mountain west days! The zone leaders came with us and they were taking action shots the whole time! haha I will send some.

Well this week was really a great week.  We are teaching people, and seeing some success here in Delft! I love my mission and I pray that I will be able to stay here in delft for at least another transfer!!

Week 58 Delft Netherlands

Micha found this "WEED" growing in a neighbors yard

Scoren in mijn eigen buurt!

Scoring in my own neighborhood!

FuFu!! I ate it for the first time this week and it was the worst thing I have ever eaten in my entire life!!! I have heard about his african dish since I've been on my mission and I've avoided it until now! But it was a fun experience. I don't think I've ever prayed to hard in my life.

Fish and chips with the Den Haag elders.

Dear Friends and Family,

This last week was really great! Two of our investigators, Qian and Sarab, are home from vacation. We had a lesson with sarab while on exchanges this week, and she is super positive! She also says she just has the greatest feeling when we are over at her house. She's just awesome!

We also had a zone conference with the Rotterdam zone this week.  It was really good to be able to see so many of the rotterdam missionaries.  Elder knudson had just broken his foot, so he showed up in a cast. haha It was really fun to see him.  If you don't remember I served with him up in groningen.  But anyways the conference was awesome!  President Robinson did a cool little section on anti-mormon material.  He called it an imunization to anti! haha all he did was throw all of this anti material at us so next time an investigator tells us about some things they have heard about Mormons we will already have heard about it.  This really seems to be a huge problem in my mission.  Even a bunch of missionaries here have struggled with anti stuff that they have heard.  I really liked how president talked about it so much.  I Think it will help a lot of the missionaries here.

They are also starting a new Facebook campaign here.  They will be giving out free 'mijn familie' books through facebook.  Last time they did one of these campains we got like 600 referrals from facebook, so I am really excited to see how this one goes.

One other thing as well that happened this week was that micha brought us by some of his peppers.  He's like yeah I've been growing these in my garden and they aren't all that hot, so just throw one in your soup or something! ha so we cut one of these things in half, and we each ate one of the halves. It was the hottest thing I've ever eaten!!!! haha We got it on video so I'll show you it when I get back.

Things are really going great here in Delft.  I am really getting along with my companion, and the work here is just amazing! I love my mission and I'm so grateful for all dat yall do for me!

Groetjes,

Elder Hulet

About 8 months ago they started this big thing around the mission called a 2 sentence testimony.  They wanted us to teach members how to share stuff on Facebook, and then share a 2 sentence testimony with it.  It was really hard for me to share something super powerful in only a few sentences. But it is something that has helped me a lot on my mission. Sometimes we don't have the time to sit and tell a long story and stuff like that for our testimony. Especially with the Dutch people. they like you to be straight forward. So squeezing everything into one or two sentences is hard but now it is my favorite thing to do on the doors.
