Week 83 Hengelo Netherlands

This week was awesome!! We found a new FAMILY of investigators! It is a Dutch family, and we had a lesson with them this week.  Edward is a doctor, and he is super smart and religious.  The first lesson went great! They are members of an evengelies gemeenschap church. Sorry I don't know what church it is in English.  But anyway they invited us to their church but it was at the same time as ours so we called president and he gave us permission to miss our own to go to theirs! It was super cool! They pretty much sang the whole time and it was like modern music! ha it was fun to experience.  But when we were walking back to the train station elder Frisby was like, "did we learn anything in there?" haha cuz all they do is sing and say praise the lord and stuff and no studying.

Yesterday evening was mikes baptism!!!  It was so great. His family came and some friends.  They all thought it was cool and his mom made treats for it too.  It was just an awesome experience.  Our whole district was there, so it was cool to be able to get us pumped up to do missionary work.  I will send some pictures of us with mike.

Week 82 Hengelo Netherlands

We spoiled ourselves and bought some pizza.
Enjoyed with a Dr Pepper from my pops!

The Sheet Bend!

Dear Family and Friends!

This past week was a really good week.  We taught mike twice and it went great.  We have two more lessons planned for this week to prepare him for his baptism on Sunday!!!! I am so excited! His family and friends will be there too so he asked if we could watch the restoration video while he is getting dressed. I will send yall pictures next week.

On Friday we had ward council and someone brought up our garbage issue. If you don't remember the city refuses to pick up our garbage because we are actually written in in Leiden and not in hengelo. They have some weird law here about that so they won’t pick up our garbage.  The ward tried to fix this problem like 4 months ago but they couldn’t get anything figured out, so we have just been carrying our recycling stuff to the Albert Heijn store and dumping it there but everything else has just been piling up in our back yard.  haha some of the relief society sisters were pretty upset and said they were going to make some calls!! haha so we will see if anything happens this time.

I was on exchanges with elder cutler this week.  We were companions on our 3rd transfer together so it was a nice little reunion!  He taught me how to tie all of the old boy scout knots that I have forgotten. haha I will send a picture.  It was a lot of fun working with him and then we had a FHE with the van benthems.  We played board games and it was just a lot of fun!

I love you all and hope you have a great week!

Week 81 Hengelo Netherlands

Not a whole lot happened this week.  I got sick Tuesday and was throwing up after district meeting. Sister Robinson said to take two days off and stay inside.  So we had a pretty chill week, and then elder Frisby got sick too, so we were inside most of the week.  We did have one exchange with the Deventer elders, and I got to work with elder Cluckey.  We had a few lessons that day, and one really cool thing that happened was with their investigator who said she didn't want to meet with them anymore.  We decided to read with her out of the book of Mormon and just try and talk her through her issues. haha it actually worked awesome, and the spirit was strong.  In the end of the lesson she said she still was shut off to the idea of a church telling her what to do but she doesn't want to lose the feelings she was feeling while we were there, and she said that she knows she is on the right path.  It was a super cool lesson!

We had another nerf war in the church last week, and another less active came! I will send a picture, and we are going to do it again today.  We are ordering pizza too so I'm pretty excited about that! Love you all! Have a great week!

Week 80 Hengelo Netherlands

Me and Elder Thom at our nerf war at the church

Br. Kabels clock making shop!

Hello everyone! This last week, was a good week! We had a zone training, and also a few days of service, so not a whole lot of door knocking done this week.  It snowed and rained all week as well, and the snow was great but the rain not so much.

We taught mike this week about prophets, and it went really well.  He Always asks a lot of questions, and the family that we teach with is Always good at adding things to what we teach.  Sister Brandenburg served a mission, and br brandenburg was a stake president, so they both know quite a bit about the gospel.  This is really how the lessons should Always be. It is so nice to have this much support from the members.

We had an exchange this week with the zone leaders.  I was with elder bean and I found out his dad was a professional golfer!! He played on the tour when he was in his 20s. He said that he was good enough to make it until Sunday but he never won, so his dad told him to get a real job! haha So elder Bean knows a lot about golf, so we talked about it the whole exchange! He is also going to play basketball for BYU when he gets back so he updated me a little on what’s going on in the NBA.  It has been a long time since I have talked to anyone about sports.  It seems like my whole mission, I have been serving with people who know nothing about sports our hunting.  So it was a nice break to be able to talk to someone about sports.

The work is going great here.  I love sharing the gospel with people every day.  No matter how hard it is, I love it out here, and I'm glad I am doing what I am doing. I love you all and hope you have a great week!
