Week 57 Delft Netherlands

Goede Dag iedereen!

This week has been good! We spent a lot of time with Micha.  He invited us over like 5 times.  We did service for him, and he also gave us a guitar lesson.  That was super awesome, because it has been a long time since I have played the guitar.  He has been giving us a ton of plants and stuff lately too, so our back garden is looking pretty sweet!  On Friday broeder scherf, our ward mission leader, invited us and micha over for dinner.  Broeder Scherf is so awesome.  He is always helpin us missionaries out! Micha loved it too, and now they are really good friends.  They like trade plants and stuff with each other. haha I love the Dutch people and how obsessed they are with their gardening!

We also met with broeder Monte this week, and made brownies with him.  That has become our new thing.  We just make brownies with less actives, and then they have no choice but to come back to church. It's great!

On Saturday night I got a call from a member of the bishopric, and he asked me if I would give a talk in church the next day! ha I hate how people bail on their talks the night before! ha anyway the talk was on "het belang van de doop" or the importance of baptism.  Luckily it was only a 5 to 10 minute talk so it didn't take long to prepare.  I have always been super nervous when giving talks, but my mission has really helped me out with that.  I kind of enjoyed it actually! haha I know weird, but it was good!  I told a golf story in it too! haha I think I have done that in all of my talks I've given.

Last night we stayed with the Den Haag elders, so we could play basketball with them this morning.  We found a court here with actual break away hoops! It was awesome, so that was our pday activity this morning.

Hope you all have a great week!

Week 56 Delft Netherlands

Onze Achter tuin

Our Papa Rogers Pizza Feast

Newly arranged apartment

This last week was awesome! Fall is finally hitting, and the leaves Be A Fallin! It also rained every day as well but in spite of that We had a few really cool miracles and I will share one of them with yall! So it was like Tuesday night during daily planning we got a call from the ZLs and they challenged us to get a new investigator the next day.  So we decided to pray again and then pick a street for the next day.  We found one not too far away, and turns out the first door we knock lets us in.  His name is Harry, and we taught him about the book of Mormon.  He invited us back, so we will teach him the first lesson this week! It really was a miracle for us. We also got let in while knocking doors on Saturday and got a new investigator there too.  I don’t know how long it has been since I have gotten two new investigators in one week.  It made the week just so much better.  We got a few pepper plants as well from an investigator, so we now have a garden. haha I will send some pics.  We rearranged everything in the apartment too so it is lookin Nice!

Week 55 Delft Netherlands

This past week has been pretty great! On Wednesday I got to go and pick up my companion at the office. There are also 4 other elders from my group that are training, so it was really cool to get to see them there as well. So my comp is Elder Parr from St George, Utah! He is really cool, and he is going to be an awesome missionary! We spent a long time trying to find him a bike in Delft, and there were no used bikes to be found, so we talked the zone leaders into driving us around Den Haag to try and find a good store. We ended up finding him a pretty good deal at some Turkish bike store. It was probably not the funnest first day for him, but bikes are really important here!

A few nights ago we made some American Brownies with Micha our investigator. We used your recipe mom, and he loved it!! I hope you don't mind me giving him your secret recipe! haha so something cool about micha is that he is in a band, and they are actually pretty dang good! They just did a tour around England a few weeks ago and they had Lindsey sterling as their opener. Pretty cool! He gave me their new cd so I can show yall when I get home. He isn't super interested in the gospel though which is too bad, but he is so Christ like!! Like for real he is always doing things for other people! He also loves our church, because he feels like we don't judge him like other people do! He would make a great Mormon! haha but anyway we had a dinner appointment last night with familie Jansen, and they live super far away, and after the appointment we had to wait like 45 minutes for a bus. So we took a ton of stupid pictures. haha I will send some to you. We then spent the night in Den Haag with the elders there so we could play voetbal with the members this morning. They are too good for us, but it was still fun!

I hope yall have a great week!

Week 54 Delft Netherlands - Will be training a new Elder

Stealing Sister Hulets Ideah and drawing the plan of salvation on the groung

My lekker kapsalon! My favorite food over here

Today at the beach!

So last night all 8 of us the Den Haag missionaries had a dinner appointment with Familie Berends, and after it was over and we were leaving was exactly the time we all started getting transfer calls.  It was kind of fun so we could hear where everyone else was going.  Turns out elder Pouwer is going to speikenisse to be a district leader and I am going to be training a greenie here in delft.  I'm super excited!

In other news! This week we had a lesson with william.  I don't know if I have said anything about him yet, but he is a new investigator.  We had a bomb lesson with him.  He is a dutch guy with two sons, but he likes speaking english with us. Anyway he is super interested with the book of Mormon.  It was the first lesson I think I have had where we talked about American history and how the book of Mormon and all of that stuff fits together.  He is such a smart guy and super cool! We have a lesson with him tomorrow so we will see how that goes.

Another cool thing that happened this last week was while I was on exchanges with elder Pugh in Den Haag.  We were talking to a guy on the street when I saw a guy ride by on his bike with a Karl Malone Jersey on!! I seriously with we wouldn’t have been talking to anyone at that moment so I could have stopped him and gotten a picture.  That is the first time I have seen the Jazz anything here.  Everyone has Yankees or bulls hats.  Pretty lame. But that was just super cool to see.

The work is going awesome here in Delft, and I just can't wait until the summer vacation period is over because things are just going to explode here!
