I
absolutely love this place! My companions name is Elder Neptune and he is from
Roseville California. He's a pretty cool guy. My district is awesome as
well. Once we all got used to each other we are just laughing all the
time. We sit in class for 16 hours a day so we try to find things to make
us laugh. We have this one kid in our district who is seriously the
epitome of nerd. So we have a lot in common, but he cracks the greatest
jokes! he kind of reminds me of Billy Bob with his dry humor. HaHa but anyway
the first few days were rough! I got pretty home sick but that only lasted for
like two days and by Sunday I was just loving every minute of it! As soon as I
got here they kind of just threw us into the language and my teacher only
speaks dutch to us so we really have to pay attention but we learn much faster
this way. Me and Elder neptune taught our first discussion is dutch on
friday and right before we went in to meet the investigator, our teacher said
we couldn't use notes. It was kinda tough but I think we did
alright. Sunday was the best day! We didn't have any classed so all we
did was like go to church and then study all day. Sunday night we got to go to
a devotional which was pretty good but then after that we watched this movie
called character of Christ by Elder Bednar. It seriously changed my life!
Greatest talk I have ever heard! He pretty much just said if you get homesick
then you are being selfish so start serving others and being more selfless and
you will be happier and a better missionary. So since the first day here our
zone leaders have been messin with us about what they call "magic
tuesdays". Haha they told us it is something for our visa where they
make us poop in a cup and send it to the Netherlands, and we totally thought
they were kidding until we got a letter in the mail yesterday that said we need
to go to the doctors office at 3:30 and make sure to eat lowfat foods and drink
lots of water for the 24 hours before. Can you believe that? They don't
let just anyone into the Netherlands! I'll have to see how it goes and
let you all know next week. I have seen tyson and sip here a few times
and I got a picture with me and Elder sip. It is weird how many people
from cedar I see here everyday. Small world. Thanks everyone for the
letters. I love them. I read them every night. Also thanks
mom for the picture book. I love looking through the pictures but it
makes me miss home. Thanks for the food too! My whole district is
benefiting from it. Mom you know how you said in your letter too look for
the positives like, "at least we don't have to clean the toilets" ha
well actually we do... on our pdays we have to clean bathrooms for an hour and
fifteen minutes. haha but it's not too bad. I can't believe I have
already been here for a week. The days go by so slow, but it doesn't seem like
i have been here that long. I really love this place and I am happy to be
serving, but I can't wait to actually get out in the field and start working.
Love,
Elder Hulet
