Every Friday we have correlation with all of the Den Haag missionaries and our ward mission leader Broeder Scherf.  This last Friday right as we were closing he bore his testimony, and then he said he felt like he should tell us something else.  Then he started talking about how important it is to have spiritual experiences every day.  He challenged us to do that and I really think that is the biggest thing about our personal conversion in the gospel.  If we don't feel the spirit often then we start losing a hold of the iron rod.  It was kind of a crazy week I'm not going to lie but what broeder Scherf said was an answer to my prayers.  I am so grateful for my mission.

Week 50 Delft Netherlands

I GO HOME EXACTLY ONE YEAR FROM TODAY! Crazy right?? Well anyway this last week was good.  We got permission to watch all of the Belgium or Netherlands games in the world cup now so we watched the Belgium one the other night and they lost. But I'm so excited for the Nederland game this Wednesday. It's going to be insane!!! Anyway the work is kind of slowing down here because everyone of our investigators just left on vacation.  It's weird here. Like the whole country shuts down and everyone leaves on vacation.  Everyone gets like 3 weeks of vacation time for work and school so it’s really no good for missionary work.

We helped a few people move this last week and one of them was going to get rid of their couch so we took it and put it in our apartment! WE HAVE A COUCH NOW! Its super sweet!

Well yesterday was the baptism of the sisters investigator who has been investigating for a year and a half.  She was so excited and she invited us over on Saturday to eat at her house and she had us all bring 3 ingredients. It was like that iron chef show. She made us a super delicious dinner with just the things we brought!  Then we went to a second dinner apt/ world cup party! It was a lot of fun!  All in all it was a really good week! Oh yeah also on the fourth of july before we went to bed me and my companion shot these streamer things off of our balcony and screamed GOD BLESS AMERICA! at the top of our lungs just to celebrate a little.  Well I hope you all have a great week!

So last Wednesday was transfers and as soon as I got in to Delft my comp told me we needed to head straight to Zoetemeer for an interview.  So we show up at the church in Zoetemeer, and it was us, President Robinson, Elder Boom of the 70, and Elder Tiexera of the 70.  They wanted to interview my companion and one other elder about the big Facebook project that they did over here.  I just got to sit back and watch.  Then as we were leaving elder Tiexera look at me and was like hey were you involved with the Facebook thing at all? haha and I was like well I guess. haha so he made me come up and be interviewed too.  He videoed the whole thing because he is making a presentation for the Apostles to see! Crazy right?? haha well it was a really cool experience to be there with all of those spiritual giants and be able to tell them what I thought about the project. 

So in other news I love it here in Delft.  I miss Groningen but it's a lot of fun here.  We have a few really positive investigators and I'm excited to get to know them. 

Today for Pday the whole district met here in delft and we took a nice little tour around the centrum.  It is the prettiest place I’ve been yet! We climbed this big church tower and took a lot of pictures from the top. It was super cool. I Totally want to come back here and visit after the mish.

Last Lesson with Nico

So Last night we were at our weekly appointment with Nico when we got a call from the APs.  When they call on transfer week you know it's going to be a big deal.  Well turns out we are all transferred except for elder Lind.  We thought if anything that elder Knudsen would go and we would all stay but no.  So I am going down to Delft with elder Paur.  I will be in the Den Haag ward which is the biggest in the Netherlands. There are I think 10 missionaries in the ward.  Only one transfer here in Groningen. It is really not long enough to get to know everyone. I am really going to miss it here, but I have heard a lot of good things about Delft.

Last week was a lot of fun! So we found this guy a few weeks ago.  Well actually he found us.  His name is Amil and he pulled up next to us at a stop light a few weeks ago and was like hey elders do you remember me?  Haha anyway we ended up getting his info and going and teaching him.  He is old and single and really lonely.  He also has a few problems that he wants help getting over, and he is ready to make some changes in his life.  He just left on vacation, and we helped him plan his route so that he would avoid all of the bars on the way.  Haha it was pretty cool. 

We also had a zone conference on Saturday in Rotterdam! That is so far away from here that we had to travel down and spend the night in OMMOORD!!!! So I got to stay in my greeny appartment! We went over and visited Ellen-Myree too. She was pretty excited to see me but she was watching the nederland vs. espanje foetbal game and she missed one of the goals while we were talking so she went back to watching.  We really wanted to know what was going on with the game so we yelled at people from the balcony and they kept us updated.  Nederland won 5 to 1 and it was a huge upset.  This country went crazy!!! A couple of members are like super mad that we can't watch the games.  Like one of the sisters investigators really is questioning the church because we are young men who should be watching foetbal. haha 

Anyway on Saturday we had the conference, and Elder Boom of the seventy came to speak to us.  IT was so awesome!! He told us stories like the whole time.  He talked a lot about prayer and also some advice for us when we go home.  I wrote a lot about it in my journal.  He has like all of these inside stories with the prophet! haha but it was a really cool experience!  I always learn so much from zone conferences, and I've been lucky enough to have two of them this transfer.

Week 46 Groningen Netherlands

Last week was a really good week.  We are teaching a lot here in Groningen, and I'm really enjoying it.  Elder Lind came this week, so we are now a 4 man! It is so much fun but it makes it harder to get to bed on time because we play games and stuff at night. 

So we had a joint teach this week for our investigator samae.  This guy works in Assen during the week and we are the closest elders so he comes on joint teach sometimes.  He is so dang cool! He just pretty much taught the whole lesson. We did kind of a question and answer thing because samae had so many questions.  Broeder De Brown is the name of the joint teach and he really knows the scriptures! He taught me so much during that lesson. I can't even explain it. Like seriously it was that cool!  

So this week was stake conference and the stake president said he wanted the missionaries to attend both sessions on Saturday so we had to travel down to Apeldoorn on Friday night which is about 2 and a half hours by train.  Then we had to travel back that night and we got home around midnight.  It really is not fun to lose sleep as a missionary.  I was so tired Saturday.  They broadcasted the session of stake conference here in Groningen.  It turns out it was coming from Switzerland.  We got to listen to elder Tiexierra, elder Anderson, and President Uchtdorf.  It was really good! President Uchtdorft was there to rededicate the country for the work.  I think he didn't write his talk because he kept jumping all over while he was speaking but I learned so much! He talked a lot about missionary work, and reactivating members.  Then when he was done he said a few things in German. haha it was super cool.

We had a really good week this last week.  I got to go on exchanges with elder bishop from cedar city, so we just talked about cedar the whole time. It was a lot of fun, and he is a really great missionary. We also went on exchanges with the district leader this week and while I was with elder rudolph (who actually played football for SUU) we went to look up a referral of someone who ordered a dvd on facebook.  We had to travel for about an hour and a half to get there and long story short it was an excommunicated member. She used to be a man.... now she's a woman.  haha It was a really weird lesson.  She said she's come to church next week though! 

 

So on Friday elder Shelton had to travel down to Belgium, and he had to meet in Leiden at 9 and we live at the very top of the country so we got to travel down to Almere and stay the night there and then work there on Friday! IT was so awesome to go back and visit! We had an appointment set up with Farley and also brother Pontaphlet to feed us, and I was so excited but then we got a call from elder Shelton and they got back super early.  They traveled all the way down to Belgium to find out the place was closed so they came back and we exchanged back early.  I didn't get to see Farly or broeder Pontophlet, but it's okay.  I got to see Ivan and sister Herribrugh, so it was worth it.

 

Another cool thing that happened this week was we got a referral from a member!!!! I don't think that has happened yet on my mission. But anyway he is the boyfriend of a member and we have taught him a few times. He is from Egypt, so we teach him in English.  He loves the bible but he has a hard time accepting the book of Mormon.  He wants to read it though, and he's guna get baptized! It's gunna happen.

 

I'm really loving it here in Groningen.  We haven't had time to do a lot of door knocking lately because we stay pretty busy around here.  We had three service projects this week, and quite a few lessons.  I really love my mission, and it's weeks like this that make me grateful for my mission and everything I’ve learned out here.
